Our Story

About Day of Danbury

A celebration of culture, community, and the diverse neighborhoods that make Danbury home.

"An invitation to invest in community, to celebrate together and give together."

Our Mission

Day of Danbury is a two-day, free-admission cultural festival and ticketed formal charity event celebrating the diverse communities that call Danbury, CT home.

All net proceeds go directly to three local nonprofits working to strengthen Danbury's communities. We believe in the power of food, music, art, and storytelling to bring people together across cultures and generations.

Day of Danbury is one of a kind. Inspired by the spirit of past gatherings on the Danbury Green and shaped with guidance from city leadership, this event was built from scratch to reflect the full depth of who we are as a city and everything Danbury has to offer. We hope it introduces something new to someone of every age and shows the world that Danbury is one of the best cities there is.

Our City

Why Danbury

Known as "Hat City" since the 1800s, Danbury has always been a place where people come to build something. Today, it's one of the most culturally rich small cities in America.

Founded in 1685 and home to Western Connecticut State University, Danbury has evolved from the hat capital of the world into a thriving multicultural community where Brazilian, Mexican, Ecuadorian, Portuguese, Lebanese, Indian, Dominican, Filipino, Jamaican, Haitian, Colombian, Guatemalan, Irish, Italian, Polish, German, and many more families live side by side.

"Restituimus." We have restored. The motto on Danbury's city seal, and the spirit behind Day of Danbury.
